Dentist recommendations

Main Post:

I’m looking for a new dentist after a few years of neglect. I need to find someone (techs included) who is not judgmental and not preachy and takes dental procedure anxiety seriously. I’m on the south side of town but willing to drive for a good fit. All recommendations are appreciated. Thank you!

Top Comment: Preferred dental on powers. They are MASTERS of what you're talking about. The proof is my brother. His teeth were ... Bad. Real bad. They were super cool about it, not judgmental about it at all, and took amazing care of him. And you can find out yourself if you'd like, he manages the subway next door.

Dentist Recommendations?

Main Post:

Been to several dentists, I need deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) and periodontal maintenance every couple of months but everywhere I've been to tried to upcharge with irrigation and also toothbrushes/toothpaste. Any dentist that doesn't overcharge for unnecessary procedures? Preferably somewhere near Stone Mountain/Snellville area but I'm willing to drive out further for a good, honest dentist who doesn't upsell.

Top Comment: who the fuck charges for toothbrushes and toothpaste? my dentists have shoved that shit into my hands every visit for the last 30 years

Looking for an honest dentist in the sfv

Main Post:

Hi all, moved here a year ago. I have seen many dentists over my life, and in the process of looking for my last dentist, found many who told me I had cavities that weren't there or needed xyz treatment.

The last dentist I had, didn't find any of those so called cavities and pretty much just kept an eye on things. Very good guy.

Unfortunately many dentists are scammers and it is hard to find a good and honest one. I am very wary. I am looking for similarly honest dentist here. Any suggestions?

Top Comment: over the years, I also find many dentist to be scammers. I was new to town once, tried out a new dentist and he tried to scare me into all these procedures. Never again. A honest, no frills dentist is worth its weight in gold.

Honest Dentist

Main Post:

Every time I need some dental work I feel like I’m playing Russian roulette as the last two offices I visited screwed me over and overcharged me. Does anybody know of a decent dentist that charges fairly for somebody with no insurance?

Dentist recommendations?

Main Post:

Looking for an honest dentist recommendation. I have dental insurance, but I've been hearing horror stories about people being pressured to do unnecessary and expensive procedures. My last small/independent dentist was excellent, but she recently retired, and I haven't found her replacement. I'm asking on this forum since I think people are more likely to be honest (I hope.)

Edit: I'm glad there are so many dentists y'all can vouch for! Thanks for the options!

Top Comment: Hale Family dental. Dr. Adam is awesome and at my visit he referred to himself as a “minimalist” dentist. Only does what’s necessary. I’ve been to a scammy dental practice before and it freaked me out so I feel you!

LPT Request: How to find a good dentist who wont upsell?

Main Post:

Not asking for medical advise. Just trying to figure out how to find a dentist that does good work, and isn't super pushy or trying to upsell different procedures all the time. Just left my last dentist because they kept botching my wifes filling and charging her to fix it. What should I look for and what questions should I ask?

Conservative (treatment-wise, not politically, lol) dentist recommendations in the DC area?

Main Post:

I've had a lot of trouble in the past with dentists recommending extensive work, such as root canals and crowns, only to get a second opinion that such work isn't necessary. I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for dentists known not to be overly-happy to prescribe dental work. I've had good luck asking in other local subreddits, so wanted to try!

Edit: why is this getting downvoted? Are recs not generally allowed in this sub?

Top Comment: Quiet 17 Dental, hands down. Dr. Oh is a phenomenal dentist. He actually performs cleanings himself, has incredible bedside manner and a very calming demeanor. More specifically to your question: he has never pressured me to perform any non-essential dental work. He works exclusively with one other employee who mans the front desk, Zack: who is also incredible. Can’t recommend this practice enough.

Need a good dentist

Main Post:

I've been to three dentists now in the last 9 months- one couldn't tell my teeth were fake in the front, one tried to bill my insurance for things that I didn't receive and one told me I probably wouldn't be comfortable going there since the dentist was a Muslim and I was Jewish (I did not say anything before walking in.) I'm not going to disparage the three places I went to, but I would appreciate any and all suggestions you have, TIA.

Edit: thanks everyone! I found a great dentist to talk to and have an appointment scheduled for December. I appreciate all of your suggestions!
